Pokorny (min)
Werner Pokorny is interested in the house as the archetype of human dwelling. His sculptures made of wood and steel reduce the house to the essential elements of cube and gable roof: maximally reduced and intuitively understandable - childlike in the very best sense. It is no coincidence that many of Werner Pokorny's works are composed of modular individual elements or communicate with each other like parts of a whole. Playing with things is artistic practice and work statement in one. Everything is connected to everything else and the smallest part reflects the whole. Pokorny's works are drawings in space. At the same time, the sculptures made of wood and steel radiate an intense physicality and trigger the sense of touch. In the longing to literally grasp things, the viewer approaches his or her own childlike self - an exercise that makes one a little happy.
